Camera Lenses,
EXAMPLE: for the sports photographer
Camera lenses offer photographers a broad range of different shooting options, Sport Photographers rely on a good quality lenses that are capable of taking precise shots from far distances.
We measure how much a camera can zoom by millimeters, and typically a standard lens, can zoom anywhere from 25mm to 200mm or even more.
Kit Lenses – kit lenses are the most common type of lens, they will typically come with most DSLR's and are usually very basic, although still very good quality, you can expect a kit lens to be ideal for everyday shooting, and not suitable for specialized photography such as Sports Photography.
Prime Lenses – Prime lenses consist of one focal length only, they offer great image quality and fantastic aperture, however, they are less popular then zoom lenses, as users will find that zoom lenses are more flexible, for instance, you are very limited in terms of zooming in on your object.
Telephoto Zoom Lenses – Telephoto lenses are the most popular of their kind, they come in a range of different configurations and levels of quality, these lenses allow you to zoom in on your subject from vast distances depending on your lens type.
For a Sports Photographer, this would be very ideal, especially a good quality one, these lenses can have quite narrow or long ranges, and can vary allot in affordability.
Macro Lenses – These lenses are specifically designed for shooting objects up close. Many cameras come with the setting Macro (which is ideal for shooting objects up close). but Macro lenses will enable you to get very close and capture a very crisp picture
Wide Angle Lenses – As the name suggests, these lenses allow their users to take shots with a variety of wide angles. They are ideal for shooting landscape Photography, and not so much for Sports Photography, mainly because of the extreme end of the wide angle, which purposely distorts your image in a curved way to allow more action into the shot. Some photographers love this, but generally speaking sport photographers don't.
Prices not to go into full details, lenses are an expensive piece of equipment, so choose wisely and don't loose your camera AND your lens like i did.
